The programme

On behalf of the AIFC Court and IAC pleased to invite you for the upcoming training in the partnership with the international law firm Clyde & Co, that will be held with the 5 online sessions in September 2024 and 2 offline in person moot hearings at the end of October at our premises in Astana.

This course is designed to help professional lawyers in Kazakhstan effectively communicate legal ideas and construct coherent and convincing arguments in international disputes, with a particular focus on the AIFC Court and IAC using our procedural rules.

Who Can Participate?

This course is ideal for those with some prior experience in AIFC Court procedures and/or advocacy who wish to build on that knowledge. All participants must be fluent in English.

Course Format

Online Sessions:

  • Five one-hour sessions held weekly on Thursdays from September 12th to October 10th, 2024, covering the following topics:
    1. Introduction to legal cultures in court and arbitration proceedings;
    2. Professional ethics and the AIFC Court’s Code of Conduct;
    3. The AIFC Court’s procedures, including interim applications;
    4. Oral submissions; and
    5. The art of cross-examination.

In-Person Session:

  • A practical exercise based on a realistic (simplified and fictional) dispute, held on October 21st and 22nd at the AIFC Court and IAC premises in Astana, Kazakhstan. Participants shall be here for these dates, as in-person participation is required. Participants will receive individual feedback on their performance.
