The course is dedicated to court procedures and practical advocacy skills, aiming to shape the next generation of lawyers in Kazakhstan. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of essential advocacy skills.
Course Structure:
The programme consists of two online training sessions, held on Tuesdays, 9 & 16 September 2025, covering key topics:
- Introduction to the AIFC Court procedural rules & code of conduct, and written advocacy skills training;
- Oral advocacy training: cross-examination, opening and closing submissions.
The programme also includes in-person sessions, offering participants the opportunity to prepare and argue an interim application during a mock hearing at the AIFC Court:
- In-person training on advocacy skills;
- Mock hearing to practice the advocacy skills in an interim measures application.
The Astana in-person sessions will be held on 22-23 September 2025, and the Almaty in-person sessions will be held on 24 September 2025 in Almaty. Participants will receive case materials, based on real life scenarios. Training and support will be provided to prepare present arguments for or against an interim relief application.
Important notes:
In-person participation is required in either Astana or Almaty, and participants will receive individual feedback throughout the course and during the final session from experienced international lawyers at Clyde & Co LLP in London.
